Well, I offically have worked my first day at McDonalds. The other employees were very nice and cordial. I was trained principally at the drive-up window to give the orders to the customers. The position also includes filling drinks and keeping the area clean and items stocked and ready. After about an hour of being a second person helping with this job, I soon ended up doing it myself during the busy lunch hour. They had me begin training on the front cash register. I just took a few small orders. It is amazing how many little things you must know to be able to ring somebody up correctly. However that was not the hard part. The difficult part about taking orders is being able to remember everything that the person said. I cannot click the buttons as fast as they talk. So it was hard to remember every little item. My big goals were completed. Working the Drive Through window and running one of the order computers. I guess I better put in my two weeks. I almost feel bad about telling them I will quit so soon.
I kind of felt sick after being there all day today. And I didn’t eat even one fry. They just didn’t even look appealing. I sure did my best to make the customers smile! And I got to keep my McDonalds hat! Yes!
Mcdonalds Orientation Day! Well after arriving a few minutes late to the 3 o’clock scheduled orientation I found myself actually quite early. The 2nd Manager was not there yet so he said he would be busy for awhile. So Chet took us back and got us started on a Computerized Briefing on the Safety and Security procedures of McDonalds. It covered everything from handling a coffee cup to a bomb threat. One of the other attendees was Martha. She didn’t speak very much English. So Chet was grateful I happened to be there to do a bit of translating. Though I don’t think he really worried that she understood to much. He said she can get all of the trainings on the computer in Spanish. It is funny though, even the English version we watched had a narration voice with a slight latin accent…McDonalds we love to make you smile!
Well Jakelin called me yesterday. She told me to come in for an interview. After a few fairly normal interview questions and 20 minutes, she told me to be at Orientation tomorrow. Hurray, finally my goal will be completed. Lets see how long I can be an incredible great employee.
